Classic Mage is the default character and the easiest to learn. They move in the opposite direction than their wand is pointing and can freely fly through the air. Their attack is a basic projectile that is shot out in the direction they are pointing their wand.

Earth Mage has unique movement, as they can only bounce off of the walls. To make up for it, when Earth Mage Counterspells they dash forward. Their shot is an arching rock that is effected by gravity.

Light Mage moves freely in the air like Classic Mage, but their movement charges over time. In the top left of the character there is a movement charge bar that shows how powerful their next move will be. Waiting a little bit in between movements will allow it to charge and you will move much further. Pressing Counterspell fully charges the movement bar.

Storm Mage moves like Earth Mage, but they have a double jump in mid-air. Rotating your wand will charge your next shot, shown by the charge bar on the upper right of the character.

Ghost Mage moves like Classic Mage and fires a boomerang projectile. Ghost Mage can Counterspell their own projectile as it returns to them and will fire off an enhanced shot.

MAGE is a magical, action-packed 2D projectile fighter inspired by controller couch party classics. Play with up to 4 players locally or online in fast, explosive rounds with the game’s unique single-stick system and charming pixel art style. Like any good party game, it’s easy to pick up but difficult to master. With only three buttons to learn, your next game night will start faster and definitely end later.

Players point their wands with the left stick, using triggers to either shoot towards or boost away from their wand. This simple system leads to deep strategy, with crazy flickshots and narrow dodges commonplace in the intense combat. And when a player is about to be hit, timing a button press just right will allow them to COUNTERSPELL, siphoning their opponent’s magic to instead power a gargantuan attack of their own! Just be careful they don’t siphon that right back…

With 12 very different playable Mages and counting, there are a dozen ways the game’s simple move, shoot, and counterspell inputs are creatively reworked into new and unique ways to play. Between Wind Mage’s redirectable projectiles, Plant Mage’s grappling hook, and Moon Mage’s zero gravity, the magic you choose to master will always be stylish and silly in equal measure.

MAGE features in-depth match customization, ensuring your party has all the control you need. Free for all, 1v1, and team modes are all available. You may also toggle on and off different modifiers, messing with game rules like rounds to win or healing on kill. MAGE’s 140 maps across seven environments can also be toggled on and off, allowing you to pick between randomly traversing them all or focusing on specific map gimmicks.

Made by four close friends learning and studying game development together, MAGE is a classic example of indie gaming at its most passionate and self-fulfilling. A wishlist, purchase, and/or review all go a long way towards supporting our fledgling studio. Thank you!
